Peter Fischli and David Weiss
In the video Der Lauf der Dinge, Peter Fischli and David Weiss document a series of events that occur through a concatenation of physical and chemical reactions. In this theatre of the everyday object, going from one setting to the next, things sort of proceed inexorably, an integral part of a network of consequences that they cannot avoid, leading in turn to actions that influence the experience as a whole. Out of the domino effect, a laboratory of the functional emerges: the object, while serving as a trigger for this artistic enterprise, is confronted with its own utilitarian failure. Fischli and Weiss, in their kinetic approach, probe the power of things and the limits of a fragile balance between order and chaos.
