Jeannette Ehlers’s art occupies public space by revisiting the history of colonialism and slavery within the Caribbean, a history that has determined the mixed trajectories from which the Trinidadian-Danish artist originates. From the two-dimensional image to corporeal and spatial extension, Ehlers combines photography, video, performance, sculpture, and installation in formally restrained works that are often based on collaboration.

Lindsay Katsitsakatste Delaronde’s performance Sturgeon Woman Rising draws upon the livelihood of the sturgeon, an ancient being that has maintained its survivance across many bodies of water for over 200 million years. Atlantic Sturgeon populations, which are currently threatened, range from the St. Lawrence River to Western Newfoundland and up the coast of Labrador.
