A statue removed, an obelisk suspended from a crane: the images in Iván Argote’s trio of films interrogate the power of monuments and the narratives they perpetuate. In his installation, which also includes sculptures, Argote stages the movements of these monuments, liberating them from their historical and symbolic anchoring. Levitate opens a space where monuments are no longer symbols of power but become spaces for dialogue, listening, and reconciliation.
