River Water

Sep 11, 2025Mar 8, 2026

In her River Water series reproduced as a mural, Niap paints with water that she collected from various rivers in Nunavik during moments shared with her loved ones. On the paper, the water guides the movement of the pigments, becoming a full collaborator in the process. Each painting bears the trace of the land it comes from and is tied to Niap’s personal history. By merging contemporary practices with Inuit knowledge, she affirms her deep connection to the culture of Kuujjuaq and offers a sensitive, intimate, and embodied vision of the North.
