Underbelly
Multidisciplinary artist Anique Jordan explores history as a material shaped by visible and invisible presences. Drawing on Trinidadian carnival and the theory of hauntology, she questions dominant narratives by highlighting the lingering “ghosts” of past ideologies and injustices that continue to inform the world today. She reimagines history as a fluid structure, weaving fictional elements into archival fragments that serve as springboards for a speculative and unprecedented vision of the future. Between shadow and light, Jordan invites reflection on memory and the visibility of Black bodies within both colonial and contemporary space.
