Ne Karahstánion (Pictures)

Sep 5Oct 25

Through his street photography practice, Martin Akwiranoron Loft witnesses the daily interactions of people on the unceded lands of the Kanien’kehá:ka. He also records fleeting moments of resistance, resilience, and reconnection in Tiohtià:ke/Mooniyang/Montréal. The images taken during the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation document emotions, efforts, and solidarity as people gather to process the ongoing trauma of colonialism. His portrait series honours and celebrates individual members of the Indigenous community as a gesture of care and acknowledgment, as a reciprocal gifting, and as an extension of being in relation.
