Mother Memory Cellophane
Imagined as a phantasmic theatre, Mother Memory Cellophane is inspired from a scene that took place in 1939, at the New York World’s Fair, whose auspicious theme was “World of Tomorrow”. As part of the world premiere of their nylon stockings, the DuPont pavilion featured a podium on which stood the advertising mascot Miss Chemistry, that is personified by Séamus today, and materialized through the technologies of lenticular printing and 3D mapping characteristic of Séamus Gallagher’s practice.
Exhibition leaflet containing texts in accessible language.
Exhibition produced in partnership with the McCord Stewart Museum.
The exhibition is made possible thanks to the support of the Canada Council for the Arts and the Arts Nova Scotia.
